Accused Teacher Ordered To Stay Away From Children
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4/AP) - A Loveland high school teacher accused of sexually assaulting a child has been ordered to stay away from anyone under the age of 18.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports that Courtney Bowles, 31, appeared in court Monday. She was arrested Friday at a Loveland park on suspicion of sexual assault on a child after police say she was found in a car with a boy.
Bowles was also arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The arrest affidavit says Bowles and the boy were naked in the back of the car and Bowles admitted to having sex with the student. The officer also found vodka and sprite in the vehicle. Bowles said she offered some to the boy and he had just one sip.
Police say at first the boy told the officer he was 20 years old, born in 1990, but didn't have any identification with him. The boy then turned over his student ID card showing that he was a 16-year-old sophomore at Mountain View High School.
Before coming to the Thompson School District a little over a year ago, Bowles taught social studies for 6 years at Adams 12 Middle School and Adams 50 High School.
Police investigators say they don't believe there are any other victims and the school district now echoes that belief but is continuing talking to students and parents to be sure.
She was being held on $50,000 person recognizance bond.
