A Year Of Planning Goes Into The Independence Eve Fireworks Show
DENVER (CBS4) - Approximately 100,000 people are expected to hit Civic Center Park this Thursday for the fifth annual Independence Eve celebration which features live music and a fireworks show.
The group behind the fireworks showed CBS4 just how much goes into producing the event.
For Larry Darrington and his pyrotechnics company the July 4 weekend is the highlight of the year.
"This is really the feather in our cap," Darrington said.

His Angel Light Pyrotechnics company is charged with lighting up the skies with a 12-minute show timed perfectly to live music played in front of the massive audience.
"Logistically it's the most difficult, but it's also the most rewarding," Darrington said.
Now in its fifth year, Darrington says he and his crew work hard to keep the material fresh for returning spectators.
"We'll bring in some new effects that nobody has seen before."
Darrington says it takes the company about a year to plan the show. By now the materials are in hand and the choreography is finalized. What's left to do is actually put the detailed plan in action.
"We're taking everything up onto the roof and getting weather protection, roof protection, because they'll be up there for a few days."
It's been days of work and months of preparation working painstakingly to make sure every second of the 12-minute show is a total blast.
CBS4 is a proud partner of the Independence Eve event which kicks off at 8 p.m. on Thursday. CBS4's Jim Benemann will be hosting.
