5 Juveniles Arrested In Standley Lake High School Weapons Investigation
WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Westminster have arrested five juveniles in connection with weapons found near the athletic fields of Standley Lake High School by campus security last week.
Three hunting rifles and a shotgun were found on Feb. 20. Police determined the weapons were not a threat to the high school. The school was placed on lockout status during the initial investigation.
During the investigation detectives discovered a burglary had occurred in the 9000 block of West 103rd Ave. The home backs up directly to the athletic fields at Standley Lake High School.
The homeowner was able to identify all four weapons and other items which were taken during the burglary.
Detectives identified five juveniles involved in the burglary. Two of the juveniles are being charged with misdemeanor theft by receiving.
The other three juveniles will be charged with second degree burglary of a dwelling, deadly weapons-possession of on educational property, interference with staff, faculty or students of educational institutions.
Standley Lake High School is located at 9300 W 104th Ave. in Westminster and is in the JeffCo School District.
