3 Arrested In 100-Acre Suspected Illegal Pot Grow

KIOWA, Colo. (AP) - Colorado authorities say an illegal marijuana growing operation on 100 acres in Elbert County was sending pot to Chicago.

The arrests of three people were announced Monday. KKTV reports that authorities found grow sites near buildings and hidden among trees and rock outcroppings. The station reports that police seized 140 pounds of refined cand 26 plants. Authorities believe individuals in the Colorado Springs area were sending marijuana to Chicago in return for money.

Daniel Haggerty, Matthew Tunzi, Anthony Munizzi and Mary Miller were all arrested in the Chicago area. Miller was released pending further investigation; the three men now face charges of cannabis trafficking, unlawful delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis.
