2 New Cases Of West Nile Surface In Colorado
DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - Health officials in southwestern Colorado report two new cases of West Nile virus.
The San Juan Basin Health Department says a 72-year-old La Plata County man has tested positive for the mosquito-borne virus, as well as a 33-year-old woman in Archuleta County.
The Durango Herald reports each is being treated by a doctor and is recovering at home.
The regional health department says four cases of West Nile have been reported in Colorado this year compared with 81 statewide cases last year.
Flu-like symptoms associated with the sometimes deadly West Nile virus include a fever, achy head or body and rash.
