$1 Million Worth Of Pot Seized, Dispensary Owner Arrested
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The West Metro Drug Task Force working with Denver Police Department's Narcotics Bureau seized 175 pounds of marijuana on Wednesday.
The marijuana has a street value of $1 million.
Dimitry Genzer and Joseph Alejo were arrested Dec. 7 during the seizure. Genzer is the owner of Cannabis and Co., a medical marijuana dispensary.
The task force and police began their investigation into Genzer, 30, and Alejo, 28, in November when detectives learned Genzer was involved in illegal sales of large quantities of high-grade marijuana.
Further investigation led to a search of a storage locker in Lakewood which produced another 23 pounds of high-grade marijuana.
A total of approximately 175 pounds of marijuana was seized in the case.
Colorado's Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division is investigating Cannabis and Co. Further actions against the dispensary are pending.
Genzer and Alejo are in jail under suspicion of distribution of marijuana in excess of 100 pounds and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. They are scheduled to appear in court Dec. 14.
