IRIVING (CBSDFW.COM) The woman who investigators said was killed in a chain-reaction wreck on Thursday morning had four young children.
The family of Lorena Vasquez confirmed the Irving resident just a baby and was working a job to help support her growing family.
"I feel sorry for her, her family. It's sad, very sad," said Sofia Abdia, who lives above Vasquez.
Investigators said Vasquez had broken down on Highway 114 Thursday morning.
They said she got out of her vehicle and called for help. Moments later, Irving Police said the driver of a minivan crashed into Vasquez. Several other cars then followed in the crash.
Police said crews did not discover her body until moving one of the wrecked vehicles, nearly an hour after the crash.
"It's really hard. I'm a mother of four children myself," said MErlan Excobar. "Just to think about leaving four children behind, there's really not words to put into this situation."
The family of Vasquez said her children are staying at a relatives house with their father.
