NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - New video shows a crash involving a Grand Prairie Police squad car.
An officer was in the middle of a traffic stop last Thursday on I-30 and Belt Line, when a vehicle struck the car. The officer was not inside, but standing next to the car he'd just stopped. He suffered minor injuries from the flying debris.
The video was released the same day an Irving Police officer was nearly injured in similar circumstances.
The officer was writing someone a traffic ticket on Highway 183 and Belt Line, when a passing truck struck his motorcycle.
At the moment of the crash, the officer was next to his motorcycle.
A police affidavit claims the suspect Jordan Dunn was speeding and texting when he crashed and then drove off.
The driver who was getting the ticket chased him, cornered him, and tackled him according to officers.
Dunn is now charged with deadly conduct.
State law requires drivers to move over or slow down when passing emergency vehicles stopped on the road. Police are constantly reminding drivers to give them room with a growing list of examples of what happens when they don't.
