IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Students and staff at Irving's MacArthur High School were evacuated for approximately 30 minutes Friday due to a bomb scare.

Someone told Irving Police school resource officers about a suspicious item found in an unused school locker around 11:00 a.m.

Officers checked it out and "out of an abundance of caution," notified the police department's Bomb Squad.

Bomb squad technicians removed the item and took it to a secure location for further examination where it was determined to be harmless.

Police continue to investigate.

MacArthur High School returned to normal activities soon after the item was removed.
