Police searching for Hector Matute in connection to Irving double murder

Mother, daughter killings have Irving Police searching for double murder suspect

IRVING - Police in Irving are searching for 33-year-old Hector Matute in connection to a double murder.

Officers were called to a shooting in the 2000 block of W Irving Blvd. just before 9 p.m. Friday, where they found the two victims.

Hector Matute, 33, is wanted for capital murder after two women were found fatally shot in Irving on Jan. 19.  Irving Police Department

Irving police say one of the victims, 55-year-old Juana Medina Rodriguez, died at the scene and the other victim, 23-year-old Nayeli Bolanos Medina was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Matute fled the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators have determined that Matute knew the two victims, but the motive for the shooting is unclear. Police have issued a warrant for capital murder in relation to the shooting.

"The initial investigation shows the victim and suspect were familiar with each other, however, the motive is still unknown," said Delaney Brey, with the Irving Police Dept. "We can confirm he has a passport, originally from Honduras."

Neighbors in the small Irving apartment community can't explain it, telling CBS News Texas the murders make no sense. They said Medina's child is not tied to Matute, but police believe the double killing is connected to a specific conflict between the victims and Matute.

Friends and neighbors continue to place flowers and veladoras, or candles, at the doorstep where Medina and her mother, Juana Rodriguez were both shot and killed.

Emily Carranza, a friend of the victims, told CBS News Texas there was no indication of any threats or trouble.

If you have information about Matute or where he could be, contact your local police department. Police advise to not attempt contacting or apprehending Matute, who also goes by Hector Paguada.
