Police Investigate After Vehicles Vandalized At DART Rail Station

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Some DART riders may be in for a rude awakening when they get back to their vehicles. More than a dozen vehicles were vandalized at the North Lake College DART Station in Las Colinas.
Late Friday afternoon most of those cars were still in the parking lot. DART police say the vehicles could remain there for some time, because many of the drivers may have taken the train to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and are out of town.
Police officers did take steps to clean up broken glass and cover up broken windows. A total of 13 vehicles had at least one window broken, but there's no indication any items were stolen from inside.
Irving police received the first 911 call at 1:25 a.m. There are security cameras in the area and there is video of the crimes. DART police aren't releasing the video at this time, but say one man can be seen breaking windows.
One woman, who only wants to be identified as "Mary," had her window shattered. The North Texas nurse said she had just gotten off her shift at work when she came out to find the passenger side window of her SUV shattered.
"I'm mad, she said. "They've got to be ashamed of themselves. Get out and get a job. Stop trying to take what God gave to other people."
Marilyn Morris and Marcus Martinez decided to go ahead and park their cars at the lot. Martinez said, "Police, it looks like they're always patrolling this area and you'd like to think that this doesn't happen because I park my car here all day."
DART officials say commuters park at the locations at their own risk.
Police are trying to contact owners to let them know their vehicles have been vandalized.
