Well-Known 'Mythbuster' Helps Villanova Seniors With Project

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One of the stars of the popular show 'Mythbusters' stopped by Villanova University Saturday night to help some senior engineering students with their capstone projects.

Jamie Hyneman has been communicating with the groups over the web since the seven students started their capstone projects, and he says one thing he can bring to the table is experience:

"Using tools and materials, and using them efficiently and accurately, is something you can't really pick up from just using a book."

As for the projects, one is a remote-controlled car operated by head movements and Google Glass. Senior student Alex Caine explains the other:

"We're trying to make a cheap and effective solar water heater."

The project was actually Hyneman's idea. In addition to answering questions from the students, Hyneman also offered some advice:

"The world's a pretty complex place. There's always something that you don't understand. So, go out there and find those things and try to understand them."
