WEATHER: Feeling Like Mid-June

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The new work week begins right where the last one left off, with more above average warmth. Mid-May will feel closer to mid-June on Monday, and then mid July on Tuesday. The unseasonably warm and muggy conditions may be coming a bit too early for some, as they wonder what happened to the 70s. Fear not, spring faithful; the second half of the week is just for you.

There are two weather factors at the present time. First, a strong but weakening cold front approaching front the west. Then there is tropical Depression Ana, which is now beginning to pick up speed and move out to sea. As it slowly turns from moving due north to a more northeastern trajectory, southern portions Delaware could see some showers associated with it during the late morning and early afternoon hours. Morning fog has dissipated in many locations, which are now seeing some sunshine. However, we could see an isolated thunderstorm triggered this afternoon as things heat up. Keep an eye to the sky if you have outdoor plans.

As the aforementioned cold front swings through on Tuesday (which will follow a similar tune to Monday), it will drop temperatures back to what they should be this time of year, in the low 70s. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are looking like winners, with lots of sunshine and lower humidity each day. The next threat of rain? Just in time for the weekend.
