WEATHER: A Cloudy Friday, Followed By A Beautiful Weekend!
By Geoff Bansen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- May Day! May Day!
As we begin the month of May, it's certainly not going to feel very much like it outside today.
Clouds and an onshore flow thanks to a storm to our south will limit temperatures on Friday, leaving us 5-10 degrees below average. Depending on any breaks of sun this afternoon, that range could shrink a bit. But while it won't be nearly as nice as the past few days, the worst weather day of the week isn't going to be all that bad.
Things begin to improve tomorrow. Saturday will feature sun and clouds, with a slight chance of a shower during the afternoon. Highs will near 70 degrees.
Sunday? It's going to be an absolute gem, with sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s. And then we go back in time on Monday and Tuesday -- to the 80s!
To recap April, we finally recorded our first above average month of temperatures in 2015. April was only slightly above at +1.4°, but hey, we will take it! April showers were not excessive, but almost spot on for the average at +0.02".
On This Date In Weather History:
A trace of snow has fallen at PHL only 5 times in May, two of which occurred on the first of the month in both 1953 and 1963.
