Weather: A Break From The Bitter Cold

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- After some bitter cold yesterday, Wednesday is going to seem balmy.

A southwesterly flow ahead of the next frontal boundary will usher in milder air today. Despite the chilly start, temperatures are already running 5-15 degrees warmer than this time yesterday.

We expect to see temperatures reach the mid-40s by later today. Morning clouds will give way to some sunshine by midday as well, so Wednesday looks to be the nicest day of the week by far.

Clouds will increase tonight and the aforementioned front will swing through by tomorrow morning. It will bring with it some light snow showers, but will cause no more than some minor driving concerns during the morning rush.

A coating to an inch at best is expected in and around Philadelphia, and even less further south. Far northern areas could see 1-2". Skies will begin to clear by the afternoon, but the cold creeps back into the picture. Combined with a gusty northwest wind, Thursday night and Friday morning will be frigid.

After a bright day on Friday, clouds build on Saturday, and we are watching the potential for snow on Sunday through the first part of next week. Could we finally get some substantial snow?
