Watch The Video: Police Seeking Northern Liberties Purse-Snatch Killers
By Tony Hanson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are advancing in the search for the two men who targeted a mother and daughter in a fatal purse-snatch and robbery last Sunday night in Northern Liberties.
Today, police released video of events leading up to the instant of the shooting, and more.
In the video, one robber grabs the purse of Stephanie Long and starts to run, while a second robber grabs Amber Long's purse, spinning her around. An instant later, she was shot and dying in her mother's arms (see related story).
"In my opinion, these individuals are out-and-out cowards, to come and to shoot a defenseless female like this just because he couldn't get her purse off quick enough," said homicide unit captain James Clark this afternoon. "I think they are out-and-out cowards. She didn't fight at all."
In addition to video of the suspects, police have also released additional video of the killers' car. That video has been sent to various other law enforcement agencies for further enhancement, and Capt. Clark says more video has been obtained and is being reviewed.
There is now a $30,000 reward.
