Ventnor Woman Convicted In Husband's Death

MAYS LANDING, N.J., (CBS) -- A Ventnor woman was convicted Tuesday of her husband's murder, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's office.

After a four day trial, the Prosecutor's office says an Atlantic County jury found Loretta Doyle Burroughs, 63, of Ventnor, guilty of the stabbing death of her husband, Daniel Burroughs, 66, when they both lived in Hamilton Township, more than seven years ago.

The jury also found Doyle Burroughs guilty of the crime of hindering her own apprehension by concealing evidence of the crime, according to the Prosecutor's office.

Investigators say Burroughs was arrested in May 2013 after Daniel Burroughs' remains were found by authorities inside her Ventnor home.

Today, the Prosecutor's office says the jury deliberated for two hours before returning a guilty verdict on both charges.

Sentencing is scheduled for April.
