PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two people are hospitalized after being shot outside a house party near Temple University's main campus.
Philadelphia police say officers on patrol heard gun shots at about 1:30 this morning near the intersection of Park and Susquehanna Avenues, just a block away from Temple's campus.
At least 100 people were inside the house for a party.
Upon arrival, officers watched a 24-year-old man place a gun on the sidewalk and run from the scene. He was arrested after a struggle with police. A second suspect was also taken into custody.
Chief Inspector Scott Small says two people, ages 19 and 23, were shot after a fight at the party spilled into the streets.
"Fortunately, there are police real-time crime cameras in the 2200 block of Park Avenue and our real-time crime unit, which is operational 24 hours a day, did observe the shooting," he said.
The 19-year-old victim was shot three times and is listed in critical condition. The other victim is in stable condition with a shot to the arm.
Temple University officials said neither the victims nor the suspects are students at Temple.
The shooting remains under investigation.
