Temple University Getting New Health And Wellness Center On Campus
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An estimated $20-million construction project is set to break ground on Temple University's campus next month.
A new student health and wellness will grace the corner of 15th Street and Montgomery Avenue.
"We took great care in massing the building so that it is not too tall in relationship to the neighborhood. It is adjacent to some of our very tall buildings on campus," said James Templeton, who oversees the design team for major projects on campus. "Portions of the building will be traditionally built, but a lot of it will be prefabbed, so it will be an expedited construction process."
Templeton says the center will have a juice bar, turf field, climbing wall, as well as a running track which will be open to the public 24-7.
"We will have security lighting at night," he said. "Our security police force will be monitoring it regularly and it has two access points for the neighborhood and for students to use."
Construction is expected to be complete by August 2017.
