Temple Becomes First PA University To Offer Private Space For Nursing Mothers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple is now the first university in Pennsylvania to offer a private space dedicated specifically to nursing mothers.
The Mamava Lactation Suite will be a special suite on the student center's second floor. It will provide privacy for pumping or breastfeeding.
The 32-square-foot suite is set to open June 1st in Temple's Howard Gittis Student Center. Mothers can reserve the space through the school's information desk.
The private room will feature a fold-down table, two benches, a mirror, air conditioning unit, and a USB power outlet. It will also have a lock to indicate whether the suite is available or occupied.
Temple University is the 6th college in the country to offer this kind of private area specifically designated to breastfeeding.
Temple says the lactation suite is in response to an annual call for big, bold ideas.
The specialty rooms can also be found at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
