Swearing In Ceremony For New DA, County Commissioners And Row Officers In Montgomery County
GLENSIDE, Pa. (CBS) -- Months after democrats swept Montgomery county in the November election, row officers and county commissioners were officially sworn-in…as was the county's new District Attorney.
New District Attorney Kevin Steele was sworn in by former District Attorney, now common pleas court judge Risa Ferman.
"It was a great honor to have our former district attorney swear me in."
Steele moves from first assistant to DA, as the office juggles some high-profile cases against Bill Cosby and Kathleen Kane.
"It's an opportunity like few others where we can make a difference in people's lives and we have a great many challenges going forward in front of us."
Also sworn in, new county commissioner, Republican Joe Gale. The 26-year-old won the minority seat on the board, despite no backing from the Montgomery county republic committee:
"I was a rebel, I didn't have the support of the party, I was picked by the people, I'm going to remember that going into this position and put people first."
