Sun Today, Showers Tomorrow, Then More Sun

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Well that's it. There's your blog for today!

Okay okay, I'll elaborate.

After a frontal passage yesterday, Friday will feature lots of sunshine as well as cooler temperatures and lower humidity. It's going to be a fantastic day, so get out and enjoy it if you can.

The next several nights are going to drop in temperature quite a bit. Tonight we'll reach a low of around 60 before falling into the 50s on Saturday and Sunday nights. You can certainly turn the A/C off, and may even need a few blankets! Highs Saturday and Sunday will be cooler as well, in the lower 70s.

Part of the reason on Saturday will be widespread cloud cover, and eventually some afternoon showers. They will be moving quickly and will exit on Saturday night. Sunday, albeit cool, looks like a winner.

Taking a look at the tropics, Tropical Storm Edouard has formed in the eastern Atlantic waters. It is expected to strengthen to a hurricane, but doesn't look like it will pose any threat to the United States.

Since you can't take our meteorologists in your pocket, make sure to download the CBS Weather App on your phone! If you are planning to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk at some point this weekend, the app is a great way to check in on the most current conditions and know exactly what to expect.

On this day in weather history...

1987 - Showers and thunderstorms produced heavy rain in the NE U.S. Flooding was reported in VT, NY, PA and NJ. Greenwood, NY, received 6.37" of rain. A dike along a creek at Plattsburg, NY, gave way and a 2 million dollar onion crop left on the ground to dry was washed away. The prolonged rains in the Eastern U.S. finally came
to an end late in the day as a cold front began to push the warm and humid air mass out to sea.
