Storms Could Bring Strong Winds, Heavy Rain To Parts Of Region
By Steven Strouss
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A frontal boundary is expected to cross the region later today and bring isolated thunderstorms to parts of the area, mainly across the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos and northern New Jersey.
The main threat with these storms will be strong winds and locally heavy rain.
The bigger concern is the excessive heat that will peak this weekend as temperatures climb into the upper 90s Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
High humidity values will make it feel more like the triple digits (100-105 degrees) so stay cool and drink plenty of water.
Temperatures will also challenge record highs and this will likely end up being the longest and most intense heat wave since last summer.
