While acknowledging that Sterling's comments are wrong, Stigall pointed out that everyone has said things in the past they regret.

"He said some stuff, and he shouldn't have said it. It's sad that he feels the way he feels. I get very torn about things like this…who among us, if you were rolling tape in the privacy of our own homes, wouldn't be horribly humiliated for something you said… I'm not a word police guy…I've never been a boycott guy. I've never been 'let's ruin the guy,' 'let's go get the guy.' No matter what you think of what they say, it's just not in my nature," he stated.

Stigall compared the reaction to Sterling's statements to the reaction Michael Vick received when he signed with the Eagles.

"It's never enough. It's the same thing with the Vick deal, the dog fighting thing. I get nauseated when I hear he can't have a book signing at a Barnes & Noble without being threatened with death. When is enough, enough?" he said.

Stigall says he feels society has gone too far in penalizing public figures who make controversial statements.

"We're living in a place where, even as a comedian, if you tell a joke that gets crossways with the accepted political norms or the accepted comfort zones of our PC culture, you will pay – mightily."
