State Senate To Reconvene To Consider Attorney General Replacement
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The state senate will come back next week to consider Governor Tom Wolf's nomination of Bruce Beemer to replace Attorney General Kathleen Kane.
The senate wasn't due back until the last week of September, but a spokeswoman for Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman says they'll return to session on Tuesday.
Kane resigned the day after she was convicted on multiple felony counts of perjury and obstruction.
Former Montgomery County Commissioner and District Attorney Bruce Castor became acting Attorney General following her resignation.
Beemer was First Assistant under Kane until he was named Inspector General in the governor's office earlier this year.
There is no exact schedule of when the senate would vote on Beemer's nomination.
