Spring Storm Brings Wintry Mix To Philadelphia Region
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain that hit the Delaware Valley didn't produce much accumulation, but it did cause some minor problems on the roads and at Philadelphia International Airport.
Saturday's storm was the kind that varied greatly depending on the area, with portions of Chester County and South Jersey getting mostly snow with little accumulation, and other areas getting mostly rain.
Steve Schapiro with the New Jersey Department of Transportation said 200 salt trucks were treating roadways throughout the state, but cautioned drivers to pay close attention to changing weather conditions.
"NJDOT crews activated this morning, and we are actively patrolling and monitoring road conditions," Schapiro said. "Whenever there is precipitation, it's always best to just slow down a bit. Be patient."
And crews had plenty of salt left over from the mild winter.
The weather was also causing delays on arriving and departing flights at Philadelphia International Airport.
