South Philly Fire Displaces Family In Freezing Temperatures

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday morning in a row home in South Philadelphia.

Fire crews were able to get everyone inside the house on South Lambert Street to safety. The blaze was placed under control shortly before 3:20am.

A family of four is being assisted by the Red Cross, and one person was taken to the hospital by medical personnel for further evaluation.

Fire fighters stayed on the scene after the fire was placed under control to salt the road nearby, because the water used by fire crews quickly froze as a result of the extreme cold.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
