Police: Child Struck In Kensington Hit-And-Run Has Died

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say the child involved in a hit-and-run Monday night in Kensington has died.

Thursday night, police released new surveillance video.

Police say two-year-old David Alicea and his 19-year-old mother, Josephine Rivera, were struck while crossing the street on the 2700 block of Mascher Street around 7pm.

After fighting for his life the past couple of days at St. Christopher's Hospital, police say the child died around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Rivera was released from the hospital earlier this week.

"Happy kid. Running up and down, just, he was known, he was full of life. Full of life," said a neighbor.

Many in the neighborhood lit candles at a memorial Thursday night.

Police are still looking for the driver of the striking vehicle, described as a newer model four-door white Sedan.

An investigation into the hit-and-run continues. The city is offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
