Social Media Today: Facebook's Not Dead, Beats Music Debuts, & Pinterest Tests GIF's.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --

Facebook still dominant despite teen use decline.

A new study reports Facebook lost almost one-third of its U.S teen users in 2013 but is still dominant in the world of social media.

The GlobalWebIndex Social Q1 2014 study, which polled 170,000 social media users in 32 countries, shows that Facebook is still the dominant social network in the world.

That decline is offset by Facebook-owned photo sharing app Instagram, which was the fastest growing platform at the end of last year with a 23% rise in active use. Reddit came in second with growth of 13%, following by LinkedIn at 9%.

Beats music makes its debut

There's a new music service in town. The Beats music app launched today joining the music streaming likes of Pandora, Rdio, and Spotify. The app is available on both iPhone and Android devices. The service says it has more than 20 million songs, which you can listen to online or download to your device to listen offline. Beats Music does not offer a free, ad-supported version. Your only option is the $9.99 a monthly subscription but there is a free 7-day trial.

Pinterest testing GIF's

Pinterest is testing a new GIFs feature to select pinners on its platform. Previously, when a user uploaded an image to Pinterest it appeared on boards as a still image. Users had to follow the link back to the GIF's original source outside of the platform. A Pinterest spokesperson has confirmed that the company is testing out the new feature to Mashable.

"We're always working on ways to help people discover and save the things they love, which can include animated GIFs," a spokesperson said in a statement to Mashable. "We've heard from the community that they'd like the ability to post and view GIFs as Pins, so we're testing ways to make that happen."
