Serial 'Rat Burglar' Charged With 18 Burglaries In Delaware
DOVER, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware have charged a man with a whopping 18 commercial burglaries that happened over a six month period.
During an investigation, police in Dover noticed that several burglaries in Prince George County were very similar in nature to 18 burglaries in Dover.
A meeting was held between officials in Maryland and Delaware, where they determined that one person was likely responsible for all of the crimes.
Within a few days of that meeting, Thomas Jenkins, 49, of Maryland, was identified as a suspect after police found a vehicle behind a building that had been targeted.
On March 9th, Prince George's County Sheriff reportedly saw Jenkins at a business cutting a hole in the roof and entering through it.
Jenkins was arrested and found to be in possession of a .45 caliber handgun that was stolen from a business in Delaware.
A search of Jenkins' vehicle revealed an additional .45 caliber handgun stolen from the same business.
Jenkins is currently in the custody of Maryland authorities and will be charged in the 18 commercial burglaries that happened in Dover. He faces 72 charges from the Dover Police Department, including Third Degree Burglary (18 counts) and Wearing a Disguise During Commission of a Felony (4 counts).
