Second Day Of Testimony In Center City Gay Attack Trial
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Day two of testimony took place today in the trial of a 25-year-old Bucks County woman for her alleged involvement in a brutal attack on a gay couple in Center City last year.
Unlike the her two friends who pleaded guilty in a plea deal, the defendant decided to be tried by a jury.
25-year-old Kathryn Knott is accused of shouting out derogatory slurs and throwing punches on Sep. 11, 2014 during an attack on a gay couple in Center City.
Her lawyer says she did not lay a hand on anybody.
28-year-old Andrew Haught testified that a group of about 15 men and women shouted slurs and then he and his boyfriend where then attacked by members of the group.
Haught says he was so badly beaten that his jaw had to be wired shut and he was only able to eat broth for about two months.
Haught said he saw Knott in the group wearing a white dress, but couldn't pinpoint her out as throwing any punches.
A witness to the attack, 21-year-old Michelle Moore says she saw a woman with blond hair, wearing a black and white dress, beating one of the men as he laid in the ground.
She identified Knott as that woman a year ago from a photo line-up and testified that she made her selection based on the woman's face, not what she was wearing.
