Rescued Pups From Puerto Rico To Arrive At PHL Monday
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Seven lucky dogs are getting a new "leash" on life Monday.
The pups are slated to arrive on a flight from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia International Airport around 12:30 p.m. today.
Once the dogs arrive at PHL, a volunteer will transport them to Atlantic City, where the Humane Society of Atlantic County will work to find them homes.
The Humane Society has been working with Island Dog Inc., a nonprofit focused on creating dog-friendly communities on the island of Puerto Rico, for almost seven years. There are an estimated 200,000 stray dogs on Puerto Rico and about 98% of those in island shelters are euthanized.
The rescue mission is a joint effort between the ASPCA and three local animal rescue groups.
