Report: Penn State Could Have Bowl Ban Lifted

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Penn State could have its final year of playoff probation lifted, if all goes well. According to a report from Sporting News' Matt Hayes, two sources tell him if Penn State continues to "reach and go beyond" what is expected of them by the NCAA, they will have a "strong case" for getting their bowl ban lifted next season.

Penn State athletics integrity monitor, George Mitchell, will release his second annual report as early as next week. After Mitchell's first report, the NCAA decided to gradually restore scholarships for Penn State as a reward of Mitchell's positive report.

Penn State and its fan base can still be hopeful of a 2015 postseason football game.
