Rain Tonight But Wake Up To Sunshine Saturday
By Kate Bilo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Walking outside anytime on this sunny Friday, it was hard to believe that rain was in the forecast by nightfall! But a system working it's way from the Ohio Valley towards the East Coast is delivering showers and storms tonight, and some of the rain could be steady.
This storm is also producing dangerous thunderstorms to our south, across portions of North Carolina and Virginia, where tornadoes have been spotted. Luckily for us, the threat for severe weather will stay south, but we will hear a few rumbles of thunder tonight as the rain moves through.
We'll clear this system out overnight, and we'll wake up to sunshine on Saturday. The day will be breezy and mild, with a high near 70, but a secondary front will pass through in the afternoon, bringing scattered showers to the region. Behind this, temperatures take a dip for Sunday, though part 2 of the weekend is sunny and dry.
Next week, we head into the month of May on a very unsettled note.
Starting Tuesday, a broad upper-level low will slowly migrate across the region, kicking up an east wind and an onshore flow and bringing rain and drizzle for days.
The east wind will keep things chilly, with highs Tuesday through perhaps Friday averaging 10-15 degrees below average.
We are still waiting for a sustained period of spring warmth!
