Pop-Up Pool Opens In Philadelphia
By Justin Udo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A one-of-a-kind pop-up pool project made its debut at the Francisville playground in Philadelphia.
The project adds new amenities and features to the already existing community pool.
"A built-in, custom-made seating element that has lounge chairs, it has benches and then it has these large boxes that you can lay on, sit on and also house planters that are built in."
Many of the kids at the pool say before the upgrades they would rarely visit the park, but with things like a mist machine and palm trees, now they come as much as they can.
"I come here like six times out of the week."
"Five days out of the week."
"Seven."
"Twice a day."
Part of the upgrades includes a family lounge.
It's a large piece of turf that has tables and a giant checker board.
Officials say they hope to implement the pop-up concept in other pools around the city.
