Poll Shows NJ Senator Cory Booker Is On His Way To Second Term

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new Quinnipiac University Poll of likely voters in New Jersey gives first-term U.S. Senator Cory Booker a strong lead headed into the November elections.

The live phone survey of just over 1,050-likely voters shows Democratic incumbent Cory Booker with a 51-40% lead over Republican challenger Jeff Bell.

Booker's biggest advantage comes amongst female voters in the state, who favor him 55 to 35%, while the male voters were more equally divided at 47% for Booker and 45% in favor of Bell.

54% of people polled say they have a favorable opinion of Booker, while 65% said they haven't heard enough about Bell to form an opinion. And with only five weeks to go until Election Day, 79% of the people polled say their mind is made up.
