Police: Man Stole Minivan With Special-Needs Patients Inside

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police are searching for a man who stole a medical transport van in Philadelphia while two special-needs patients were still inside.

Police say the 28-year-old driver stopped at his house in north Philadelphia at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday to turn off his lights due to an electrical problem.

When he emerged less than a minute later, he found that someone had stolen the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander with the patients inside.

Authorities said officers later found the 56- and 57-year old patients less than a mile away. No injuries were reported.

Police said neither the minivan nor the suspect have been found.
