Philly's Le Cat Cafe Hopes To Unite Cats And Cat Lovers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's not about the coffee at a new Philadelphia cafe, but the animals.
Philadelphia's first cat-cafe is educating patrons about rescued felines and the possibility of making them a part of their lives.
At Le Cat Café in the 2700 block of West Girard Avenue you pay $12 and you get a free hot beverage that you make from a pod coffee maker and meet up to 12 rescued felines roaming freely around you for an hour.
It's not about the beverages ....it's all about the cats and finding them a forever home.
"None of them looked like this when we rescued them they we're all pretty beat-up filthy, dirty, starving, so they had a true makeover," says owner Kathy Jordan.
She says they are happy to be the first café of its kind:
"We hope there is many many more though, because there is enough cats out there who need a homes and it is the better way to wait for their forever home."
West Chester University student Amber Melville says playing with cats relieves stress:
"Being in college like you can't have a pet with you so it's really cool to go someplace and hang out with cats."
Space is limited in the cafe and reservations are recommended.
On Monday cats with mats yoga classes start with money going to care for the animals.
