Phillies Fans Find Silver Lining in Home Opener Loss
By Paul Kurtz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A sell-out crowd saw the Phillies fall flat in their season home opener.
For Phillies fans the only fireworks were of the pre-game variety. The Milwaukee Brewers Ryan Braun provided all the game time pyrotechnics with a three home run, seven RBI performance.
Not what the hometown crowd had in mind for the 2014 home opener.
"It's the best day of the year, no matter happens from this point onward. This is a great to come and try to get your hopes up. Try to get a good start to the season," a Phillies fan said.
For even the youngest fans, Opening Day is unlike any other day of the season.
"Good day, it's a nice day outside. We're missing school," a Phillies fan said.
It's a different atmosphere. It's more special," another fan said.
For the old timers, this day brings out the little kid.
"Brings back a lot of memories from childhood, family times and so forth," a fan said.
A star-spangled opening ceremony ended with former Phillies standout Jamie Moyer throwing the ceremonial first pitch.
