Philadelphia Sandwich Capers Reportedly Make Off With Wawa Hoagies Concealed In Their Pockets

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Even Philly's crooks love their Wawa.

Police in Philadelphia say they are searching for three men who robbed a Wawa store in Logan Circle back in May.

What did the capers steal? Hoagies.

On May 28th around 5:53 p.m., three unknown males reportedly entered the Wawa at 1707 Arch Street. Once inside, suspect #1 reportedly took a sandwich from inside a case and went into the restroom.

When that suspect left the restroom, he no longer had the sandwich. Upon being questioned by the manager, the suspect handed the manager the empty sandwich bag.

The manager then approached suspects #2 and #3, who police say were concealing hoagies in their pockets.

According to police, suspect #3 asked the employee, "What are you gonna do?"

When the manager instructed other tore employees to call police, the third suspect struck the manager in the chest then picked up a Wawa refill cup and threw it at him.

All three suspects then fled the store and were last seen heading west on Arch Street towards 18th Street.

Suspect #1 is described as a black male who is about 5'10"-6'0" with a thin build and a medium Afro. He was wearing a dark jacket, a white t-shirt with a multi-colored picture on the front and dark jeans. He's said to be about 20 years old.

The second suspect is also a black male of the same age and approximate height with a medium build. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a picture on the front, white pants with the legs rolled up, dark sneakers with red or orange laces and a dark colored baseball cap. That man was carrying an Old Navy shopping bag.

Suspect #3 is also a black male who is about 20 years old. He is approximately 5'9"-5'11" with a medium build and was wearing a blue or gray jacket, a white t-shirt, blue jeans, light over dark colored sneakers and a blue backpack.

Anyone with information on the sandwich thieves is asked to call police.
