Meteorologist Kate Bilo helps Santa Claus flip switch at Rittenhouse Square Holiday Tree Lighting
The holiday tree in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square was lit up for the season on Monday!
CBS News Philadelphia was joined by IBEW Local 98, the Friends of Rittenhouse Square and the Greater Philadelphia Choral Society for the event, which began at 5:30 p.m.
NEXT Weather Meteorologist Kate Bilo lit up the night with help from none other than Santa Claus himself.
People attending the tree lighting said their favorite part of the night is seeing the community come together for the holidays and watching children enjoy the event. Many also said it helps them get into the spirit of the season.
"Christmas is a very good time for us. It's a nice time to get together with the family and enjoy everything," Gabriel Caba said.
Priscilla Caba said the best part is "just the joy it brings, the togetherness it brings. The happiness — I love that part."
If you couldn't make it to the event, you can relive the magic right here in the video player above.
Rittenhouse Square sits in Center City between 18th and 20th streets south of Walnut Street.
