Philadelphia Ranks Among Worst College Towns To Have A Car

UNIVERSITY CITY (CBS) -- According to a new survey, Philadelphia college students should come to town without their cars.

According to a survey conducted by the data analysis ValuePenguin, Philadelphia's University City neighborhood ranked as the 3rd worst college town to bring a car into... and students here, seem to agree.

"And I think it's better just to walk, because the city is just so hectic and everything is just close by, you don't need a car," one student said.

It's also expensive...

"There's the parking component, there's the insurance component, there's the tolls component, there's the parking pass component, there's maintenance to the car, I mean, there's so many things you have to worry about," another student told KYW Newsradio.

Fourteen factors were taken into consideration including safety, a category where Philadelphia did well with low rankings of drunk driving crashes. That could be due to the findings that less than a quarter of Penn or Drexel students drive to class.

"The school provides a transit service, or you could like Uber somewhere if you are going far."
