Philadelphia Ranked Third Best City For Workers Without A College Degree
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – No degree? No problem – at least in Philadelphia.
Well, fewer problems, according to real estate blog Movoto, which just ranked the City of Brotherly Love one of the best for workers without a college degree.
Movoto says it used the percentage of high school grads who were employed, the percent who had health insurance, and their median annual income taken from the U.S. Census Five Year American Community Survey (2009-2013) to determine the rankings.
Philadelphia came in third, behind Henderson, NV (second) and North Las Vegas, which ranked first.
"The largest city in Pennsylvania easily makes this list with some pretty surprising stats," Movoto says. "For starters, this big city had the sixth highest percent of non-college grads who were currently employed."
And while Movoto does admit that Philadelphians lacking a college degree have a somewhat lower median income – about $27,000 – the site points out that Philly had the highest percent of high school grads with healthcare.
Other cities on the list include Baltimore and Jacksonville, FL.
