Philadelphia Plans To Hire 120 Temporary Workers To Tackle City's Trash Problem

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia has a new plan to tackle the city's growing trash problem. Trash has been piling up during the COVID-19 pandemic due to workers calling out sick.

Now, the Streets Department hopes to hire 120 temporary workers to help clear the backlog.

The city's goal is to have workers ready to go in about four weeks.

Trash pickup is running a day behind in some areas of the city. Recycling is still one week behind.
