PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One person is dead after a house fire in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia on Monday morning, fire officials said. The fire happened along the 2400 block of Seybert Street around 4 a.m.

Fire officials say a man managed to escape the fire. He's been placed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital, according to the fire department.

Crews quickly got the flames under control, but they were not able to save the victim who was trapped inside the home.

So far, fire officials have not identified the victim and there is no immediate word on a cause for the fire.

The death was Philadelphia's second fire death since this weekend.

"We have a plea here, this is a rough weekend for us this weekend," Capt. Derek Bowmer, of the Philadelphia Fire Department said. "This is our second fatality this weekend and we just encourage all Philadelphians all people in the city to have a fire escape plan. If you can't afford smoke alarms, call 311 our fire department will take care of that."

There have been close to 40 fire deaths in 2022 in Philadelphia.
