Philadelphia Boys Choir Gets Ready For Annual Holiday Performance
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Christmas, the voices of the Philadelphia's Boys Choir will take over television sets around the Delaware Valley.
But, you can get a sneak peek tonight on the special, "A Very Philly Holiday" at 7:30 on CBS 3.
When school was starting back in early September, and Santa was the last thing on a lot of kids' minds, that's when the Philadelphia Boys Choir started practicing their holiday music.
Music director for the choir, Jeffrey Smith, says it's quite a task getting 80 boys ready for their holiday performance.
"They rehearse twice a week. They sing a lot of difficult music, and they work hard on learning the harmonies and eventually memorizing the music and producing a fantastic concert in December."
And just as much as people love hearing the songs, the boys love performing them.
"My favorite song to sing is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" because it's so much fun to sing about Christmas time, and I love Christmas."
"My favorite song is "Winter Wonderland," because we get to have a lot fun in it, and we just get to play around.
CBS 3 is airing the holiday music of the Philadelphia Boys Choir in its entirety on Christmas morning.
