Online Emergency Profiles Now Available In Camden County
LINDENWOLD, NJ (CBS) -- Smart 9-1-1. It's a new way to keep emergency information available to those who might need it if you ever need help.
Camden County is the first in New Jersey to put the system in operation. Officials showed it off at an event at their communications headquarters in Lindenwold.
You have to take the time to fill out a profile, but once that's done, first responders will have vital information they need if they ever come to your place.
Camden County Freeholder Jonathon Young told KYW Newsradio residents can provide as little, or as much as you want.
"Names. Physical description. You can add photos. You can add as many phones as possible," he said. "You can put your pets on there with their photos. Your allergies and health conditions."
And it's all held securely, accessed only in the case of an emergency.
Not only that, it's portable. More than 1500 counties and communities are hooked up into the Smart 9-1-1 system
"It follows you anywhere you go throughout the country," Young added. " So anybody else who's plugged into Smart 9-1-1, you're on vacation and something happens, you call 9-1-1 out there and they're on the system, your profile will pop up with all your allergies and everything in there as well."
Camden County residents can go to the county website, to fill out the profile at no charge.
