Old City Shop Named Best Place For Ice Cream In Pa.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Business Insider has released a list of the best ice cream in every state and an Old City shop famous for soda fountains, splits, and sundaes was named best in Pennsylvania.
The list was created with the help of a social network.
Franklin Fountain in Old City has been named the best ice cream shop in Pennsylvania by news site, Business Insider.
"We're so thrilled but we are part of a team and the team members that make this place work we're so proud of," says co-owner Eric Berley, who opened the shop 11 years ago with his brother.
Business Insider says, "The Franklin Fountain brings back the authentic soda fountains of old-school Philadelphia," and "Folks from all over Philly come for sundaes, splits, cups and cones at the beloved shop."
Berley says on any given day there are at least 30 flavors like green tea, cotton candy, and maple walnut.
"To make great ice cream it has to be full fat, local cream and churned in a way that's not too sweet," says Berley.
Business Insider used the social media check-in site Foursquare to create the list, based on users' likes, shares, saves and other factors.
"To be honest I don't really know anything about Foursquare but I think it kind of legitimizes the whole process so I appreciate being honored just by the general public."
Franklin Fountain has expanded its operation and their ice cream can also be found at Spruce Street Harbor Park, the RiverRink Summerfest, and Shane's Candy Shop.
