Officials Identify New York Man Who Drowned At Jersey Shore

MANTOLOKING, N.J. (AP) — Officials have released the name of a New York City man who drowned this weekend while swimming at the Jersey Shore.

Ocean County prosecutors say 22-year-old John Crimmins, of Yonkers, was with friends in the ocean off of Mantoloking when he suddenly disappeared from their sight around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

An extensive search was soon launched, but Crimmins was found dead in the surf less than an hour later.

Authorities have not released further details on the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
