Obama's PC Threatens Freedom

By Gary R'nel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The President of the United States takes an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. President Obama repeatedly reminds the American public that this is his foremost charge. Why does Mr. Obama insist on a heavy dose of political correctness in describing terrorism? He finds it difficult to refer to modern day religious fundamentalism as Islamic or Muslim terrorists. It is true that there are 1.6-billion Muslims on the planet. And it is also true that radical Islam comprises 25 to 30 percent of the Muslim population. You are looking at 180 to 300 million people whose level of tolerance for those who disagree with their religious convictions is non-existent. Millions of radicals want to exterminate the freedoms and liberties most civilized societies cherish.

Mr. President, why not invite Kayla Mueller's parents to the White House to explain why you hesitate to describe her callous murderers as Islamic and Muslim terrorists. And while you're at it, also invite the loved ones of Lt. Muath Al-Kaseasbeh, Kenji Goto, Haruna Yukawa, Peter Kassig, Alan Henning, David Haines, Steven Sotloff, and James Foley.

At the recent national Prayer Breakfast the President was quick to let us all know that Muslims are not the only individuals who share a radical element in their faith. He referenced the Christian Crusades and the Inquisition hundreds of years ago. Obama basically lectured Christians not to get on a moral high horse in their castigation of ISIS atrocities. In the Christian faith forgiveness and redemption are paramount. For Islamic and Muslim terrorists there is no forgiveness. A total adherence to Sharia law and its accompanying anarchy is the center of the fundamentalist's universe.

Recently, the White House declined to characterize an attack on a kosher deli in Paris as targeted toward Jews. Obama said it was a random shooting. Was he afraid of offending gunman Amedy Coulibaly who killed four hostages at the deli on the edge of Paris two days after two brothers killed 11 in an attack on the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo?

Political Correctness, in many of its manifestations, is as much an existential threat to freedom loving individuals as the fundamental terrorists themselves.
